We focus on research and development of innovative natural products that can be used as Food Supplements, Functional Foods, Nutricosmetics and Medical Devices. Our scientists study and analyze natural and organic substances and unique combinations in human cells and animal models. We generate innovative formulations that increase bioavailability and specificity of natural ingredients in their mode of action.  Our formulations are tested for their safety and efficacy by the most rigorous scientific criteria and by well-defined biochemical tests. We have developed many proprietary products containing natural active substances for promoting and maintaining well-being.


Formulation of Greek Flora derived innovative Food Supplements aiming to improve specific molecular biomarkers

HEALTH-SPAN project, based on the collaboration of Apphia Laboratories and Qualia Pharma with one of the most recognized research centers in Greece, National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF), suggests the development of new dietary supplements, enriched with extracts and active components derived from Greek Flora. The new product line will incorporate innovative health claims, based on great scientific achievements within the field of Biomedical Sciences, for whom is expected to elucidate underlying mechanisms of processes relevant with human aging, These include telomeres’ and telomerase discovery (Nobel Prize 2009), the discovery of the proteasome, a complex responsible for protein degradation, with a pivotal role in many of the hallmarks of aging and a promising target for therapeutic interventions and also the epigenetics, a field that studies non heritable alterations in genes’ expression. In this direction, a variety of extracts/substances derived from the Greek and Mediterranean Flora, will be tested by the NHRF, in order to assess their ability to promote well-being. The anti-aging activity of the selected extracts/ substances and their potential combinations will be initially evaluated in vitro in human cell cultures. The results of in vitro evaluation will define the formulation of the new product, which will be further tested in vivo in healthy volunteers. The clinical trial is expected to provide the new product with credible scientific evidence in order not only to validate existing health claims about the active components, but also to create new.

Anti-ageing properties of Khelma Longevity™: treatment of human fibroblasts increases proteasome levels and decreases the levels of oxidized proteins.

In vitro pilot study indicates that Khelma Longevity™ is a potent proteasome activator demonstrating clear anti-ageing properties. The study is published in 25 September 2017 in  New Biotechnology, special issue in memory of professor Brian F.C. Clark (1936-2014) : New Biotechnology is the official journal of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB).
